Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games’ parent company, has escalated its hunt to unmask Cyberleek, the leaker who has been posting gameplay videos, map images, and polls about GTA 6 on a near-daily basis since August. The company filed formal petitions in US federal court (Southern District of New York) on August 20, demanding that Microsoft, Discord, Google, and X (Twitter) hand over data that could identify the person behind the leaks.

What Take-Two is asking for
The deadline given to Microsoft and Discord was September 4. From Microsoft, the company demanded all internal records from Microsoft’s own investigation into the “cyberleek” persona — including registration emails, IP addresses, phone numbers, linked accounts (Google/Xbox), device identifiers, and any OneDrive content related to GTA, Rockstar, or Cyberleek.
From Discord, the request covers not just the “CYBERLEEK” account, but also associated ones like “CINEMATICROCKSTAR” and “Surfer24k™,” as well as entire servers — including the “Ødyssey.gg” guild and the editors’ server for streamer DarkViperAU, who ended up named in the filing despite, by his own account, having no connection to the case.
“They’re asking for my discord info, I’m mentioned by name. I don’t know anything.”
— DarkViperAU, streamer named in the filing
The Cyberleek case, at a glance
- Petition filed: August 20, 2026 US District Court, Southern District of New York
- Deadline for Microsoft and Discord: September 4 To hand over investigation records and account data
- Accounts targeted: CYBERLEEK, CINEMATICROCKSTAR, Surfer24k™ Plus associated guilds/servers
- Leaked content: unreleased gameplay, map, and mechanics Posted almost daily since August
A leaker with an agenda
The case has an extra layer of complexity: according to court documents, Cyberleek posted a “manifesto” calling for an end to digital pre-orders and paid DLC — rhetoric that reads like a critique of the industry’s own business model. At the same time, the leaker also reportedly promoted a “meme coin” cryptocurrency, raising questions about how much of the motivation is genuinely ideological versus financial.
Unlike the historic 2022 leak — when a teenager linked to the Lapsus$ group breached Rockstar’s servers and released dozens of internal build videos — the Cyberleek case is an active, ongoing leak, with Rockstar’s November 19, 2026 release date already locked in. Whether the legal action can contain the leaks before then remains to be seen.
