Blizzard Confirms Diablo Animated Series on Netflix

It was one of the most unexpected announcements at BlizzCon 2026: studio president Johanna Faries confirmed that Blizzard is partnering with Netflix to produce an animated Diablo series.

The announcement came with a bigger message attached: Faries emphasized that the studio is called “Blizzard Entertainment,” making clear the company doesn’t intend to limit itself to games. Overwatch and Warcraft were also specifically named right after the Diablo series announcement, though Faries was clear that nothing is official or locked in at this stage for either of those franchises.

besides Diablo — Overwatch and Warcraft — were named as possible next adaptations, with nothing confirmed yet.

Not Blizzard’s first attempt outside of games

Blizzard is no stranger to non-interactive adaptations of its brands — the Warcraft movie, released about a decade ago, is the best-known example. That film didn’t exactly light the world on fire, critically or commercially, but an animated series (or two) may fit the company’s franchises better.

No timeline was given for when the Diablo series might premiere — it was just one of several big announcements made during BlizzCon’s opening ceremony, which also included the reveal of the Amazon class in Diablo IV and the announcement of Diablo V.
