Minecraft is getting its first new dimension since 2011. It’s called The Sift, it was revealed at Minecraft Live on September 26, and it lands in the full game, on Java and Bedrock, only in 2027. Before that, you can visit a version of it inside Minecraft Dungeons II, out this Tuesday (09/29).

What the Sift actually is
It joins the Overworld, the Nether, and the End as the game’s fourth dimension, the first since the End arrived back in 2011. It has its own biomes, like Meadows and Carapace, and Mojang is keeping other areas secret on purpose. It also brings exclusive creatures that act as both company and threat, including the Blub, the Echo Golem, and the Sculk Mage, plus three bosses: the Harmonizer, the Monarch, and the Sculk Monstrosity.
The Sift’s timeline
- September 29, 2026 Minecraft Dungeons II launches, with an early preview of the dimension
- 2027 The Sift arrives in full Minecraft, on Java and Bedrock
- New biomes Meadows and Carapace confirmed, others kept secret
- New bosses Harmonizer, Monarch, and Sculk Monstrosity
A 2009 game that’s still growing
The most eye-catching part of the show may not even have been the new dimension. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma revealed that Minecraft has sold over 425 million copies, and still gains around 300,000 new players a day, people opening the game for the first time in their lives.
- 300,000 new players a day
is the average number of people playing Minecraft for the first time, according to Xbox CEO Asha Sharma, even with the game past 425 million copies sold.
For a game that launched in 2009, that’s a number very few titles from any era can keep up.
