Rockstar helicopters a $1 million sign onto a Miami arena to promote GTA 6

We already told you Miami Beach approved a real GTA 6 campaign on its beach chairs. Now the whole thing got a lot more visible: a giant sign reading “Welcome to Vice City” went up on top of the Kaseya Center, the Miami Heat’s arena in downtown Miami, hoisted in by helicopter this Monday (09/22).

A different deal from the Miami Beach one

This is a separate contract from the one Miami Beach’s commission approved in September for the beach chairs. This time it’s Miami-Dade County, which owns the Kaseya Center, and the target is a lot more eye-catching: the actual roof of the arena where the Miami Heat play. According to RockstarINTEL, Rockstar is paying close to $1 million just for this sign.

What we know about the sign so far

  • Location Top of the Kaseya Center, downtown Miami, home of the Miami Heat
  • Installation Hoisted in by helicopter on September 22, 2026
  • Cost Nearly $975,000 paid to Miami-Dade County, according to RockstarINTEL
  • In-game The arena becomes the fictional “Sahara Arena,” home of the Vice City Narcos
  • What’s next Rockstar and the county are still negotiating more signs around the area

Not every politician loved the idea

The approval wasn’t unanimous. Commissioner Juan Carlos Bermudez raised the same concern that always follows the franchise: the fear that the game ties the city to “violence against police” and encourages players to “commit crimes” in real life. It’s basically the same debate that already played out in the Miami Beach vote weeks earlier, when a commissioner showed GTA gameplay during the meeting itself.

On the political side, there’s also a fight over where the money goes: Mayor Daniella Levine Cava wants the funds to renovate Parcel B, a local park, while Bermudez argues it should go to the Sheriff’s Office instead.

is when GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and why there’s such a rush to turn Miami into Vice City before then.

This kind of signage privilege is usually only granted to events like the Miami F1 Grand Prix or the 2026 World Cup. GTA 6 is apparently in that league too, at least as far as the county is concerned.
